Some things just aren’t to be, and the first ever corp I (tried) to join didn’t work out for me.
So I set out to find a new corp, and while a few friends I’ve met through this website offered me a position in corps they joined soon after starting in Eve (thanks guys!), I thought I’d take another shot at going it alone.
Why? To help me get a better idea as to how hard it is for new players to find a good corp in Eve, of course!
Funnily enough, in Eve online my experience so far has been that no matter what you do, corporations will find you. This is a good thing – like I said in my first post about Eve corporations, I think Eve without corps is a totally different beast to say, World of Warcraft without a guild.
Without a corp in Eve online you feel more isolated, you earn far less isk, and especially for the new player, you learn much less than you would with a friendly corp there to guide you.
All these observations are just my newbie observations of course, and perhaps older players don’t feel as bound by what I say here. Small corps of 5 bounty hunters for instance might revel in the tight knit group they have and the lack of political ties they have. But new players? Support is good and you get support from a corp.
How to find a Corp in Eve Online?
Ask questions.
Ask questions in Rookie chat.
Ask questions in local channel.
Ask questions, and corps seem to just find you. That’s my experience.
I think that if you do this, corporations on the look out for new members see someone eager to learn, and as a potential candidate.
And that’s how I got my latest invite to join a corporation – by asking a question in local chat. I think the question was, “where’s all the rat’s (pirates) in this system?”.
I was in .5 sec space and expected a few random pirates on the asteroid belts, but apparently that particular system didn’t have any. A minute or so later I got a message from a fella telling me that if I went to a nearby icebelt, and killed the rats there, they gave good loot, and if I could salvage, high priced salvage too.
2 for 2 I said to myself and made my way there!
On the way there I talked to my new friend, and it turned out he was in a corp that was in need of new members (are there any corps out there that don’t need more members?) – experienced or new.
At this stage in my MMO and Eve experience I figure the best way to find out if a corp is right for you is to ask a few intelligent questions and just jump in and see what happens.
So that’s how I joined my second Eve online corp! I’ll be sure to report back with how I go, what I learn, and anything else that might help prospective Eve players and new Eve players alike!

Glad to hear you have found another corp mate
Thanks Jamie =)
I’m finding people in Eve to be super helpful and nice people, so overall good times so far!
Hey man, I’m so glad you found a new corps. Remember, if that doesn’t work out, we’ve always got a spot for you….by the way, I really enjoy reading your post, keep at it,..it helps me out…even with all the stuff I’ve already learned.
Fox out.
Thanks Fox! Much obliged! I’ll definitely keep posting
