I don’t know what it is, but its like whenever I can’t sleep and get up to play Eve, there’s a corp mission or mining run going that’s just about to finish!
I have trouble sleeping sometimes because my other half works shifts, and I sorta work them with her… so going back to day shift can be fun, fun, fun! Lucky I have Eve to fly around in, yeah?
So on to what you come here for! – we ran a level 4 mission a few jumps from our base of operations in Elgoi, and this is how it went.
First up, when I log in I’m told we’re running one more mission for the day, a 3 “room” (rooms refers to the depth of the deadspace encounters – you can keep using acceleration gates to go deeper into a deadspace pocket, much levels in a dungeon) pocket that is full of battleships and elite cruisers.
What was I doing in such a happy place?
Well, as you may have guessed, I still fly a noob cruiser, the Stabber, and really don’t have a hope against Battleships or elite cruisers – but I *do* have a chance against the frigates that exist in said deadspace pocket, and can help the big boys out by killing them off before they interfere with the battleships (how I honestly don’t know – someone help me out here!).
So I was told to tool up with em/thermal armor and ammo and join the fray, which I tried to do, but after having a quick look through the corp hangar I realized I couldn’t even work out which armor was cruiser, frigate, or battleship, let alone which was thermal and which was EM. Noob!
I know my way around speed and agility boosting components but armor is somewhat of a mystery to me still, mainly because it slows down, not speeds up, the fast ships I like to fly!
The armor was also filed away in this corp can with about 20 different types of tech 1 and tech 2 variants, frigate armor and battleship armor, so my newbie mind couldn’t quite grasp what was going on
Once I got into the mission most of the time was spent wailing on frigates before they approached the battleships, popping them really fast with a combination of missiles and close range auto cannons.
My corp mates engaged the other battleships, which were Amarr, using some very, very fancy looking heavy autocannons. The Amarr battleships were firing back with lasers too, which are seriously nice to look at.
Here’s a quick, shoddy video I made of my corp leader in a Minmatar battleship shooting volleys of heavy siege cannons (excuse the dodgy editing at the end, I don’t know what I’m doing, lol)
When I played Eve 4 or so years ago, it just had nothing on how it looks now… (just don’t go by how these dodgy Jing screen grabs look!)
I’ve also got a video on me circling an elite cruiser where I’m doing almost no damage, while my friends are doing the lion’s share of the killing.
Once all the frigs were killed, I decided I might have a go at the Battleships, and I found that my lack of ammo specificity was a problem, which meant I just did PITIFUL damage to these guys armor, but once the protective layers were down, structure took some huge damage.
Lesson learnt, make sure you have various ammo types around, and know which factions/pirate groups use what types of resistance armor/shields!
The corp payed a generous 1 million isk per mission, but the best rewards from running those missions I’m told is getting faction standing increases and better agent relations.
I definitely need to look more into faction relations, how to improve them, and which factions I want to improve. Like my friend foxbolt says, you can even put your own player owned space station in empire space (high security, safe space)… IF you have good faction with the group who own that space.

Hey man,
I’m still trying to figure out how you find amor resistences on each race? Like, where do I look for that info? Latest update on Fox here, for you viewers….I’ve been with my corps for 1 whole month, and I earned the trust of the CEO to hold director rights, meaning, I now have have access to the corps ISK account, and everything else. We also opened up a 2nd office 20 jumps away from our HQ station, and I’ve been put in charge of it. This game really does feel like a 2nd job I really enjoy. You should really check it out, it is so worth it. Fox out.
Also, hey guy who writes these reviews..lol.. I so forgot your name…lol.. forgive me. Anyways, if you ever see me online, and I’m not busy, get with me, and I’ll show you what I know about shield tanking, and amor tanking. If you have a headset with a mike, it’ll be alot easier. Go to skype.com and download the program, and I’ll get with you, and teach you for free. This type of info is so very helpful, and is a must know to survive pvping.
Fox Out.
Hey Fox, no worries man! I’ve been so busy lately with work I haven’t had time to play anything, so sorry for leaving your offer hanging! I thought I’d actually write about Eve Mon recently because its like the only gaming related thing I’ve looked at all week.. lol.
Will definitely hit you up though if I see you online, thanks again.
Just did a quick bit of Googling and found a Eve Pirate and Empire resistance guide, I’ll write a super quick post on it

ever tried E-WAR? Weapon jammer, warp scramblers, speed webbers? Those are things used by E-War ships (and smaller ships on L4 Missions). You can be jammed to death – and then you lock enemy in about 60 sec with 7 km lock range max. This eliminates you from combat. Try building for yourself some E-WAR frigate with webber and painter. Than you can mark targets for bigger ships…. this is sooo fun..
You should look up some lvl 5 missions in 0.0 sec on youtube heh…
Oh yeah Daggeth Shinar E-WAR doesn’ t work against rats ^^ (noob) cough xD
I think that’s what was meant when your corpy’s told you to take care of the small stuff, they usually jam, or web big ships. Yeah nasty stuff, anyway most e war things dont’ work on rats, look it up, i know for sure that target painting works on them. That’s not much and kinda usless in missions and ratting unless its to kill sleepers in wormholes.
